Proud to Honor Those Who Serve

Tab 1

November 06, 2014

As president of The Private Client Reserve of U.S. Bank and a member of the U.S. Air Force Reserve, I’d like to take a moment to reflect on Veterans Day.

U.S. Bank has a long history of honoring those who serve our country. Our Proud to Serve program is nationally recognized for its emphasis on supporting veterans and military families. Established in 2008, the program focuses on hiring and supporting the unique personal and professional needs of veterans and their families. More than 2,000 veterans now work at U.S. Bank, including members of the National Guard and Reserve.

Each year the President and CEO of U.S. Bancorp, Richard Davis, makes a special effort to thank employees for their service to their country.  “We honor those employees who serve our country and also acknowledge the family members who often make great sacrifices to make service possible,” says Davis.

In addition, veterans who are new to U.S. Bank receive a personal welcome from another employee veteran, and leaders in our company make phone calls to families of deployed military employees to offer encouragement. Military programs include collecting supplies for deployed troops and wreath-laying ceremonies at veterans cemeteries and other locations across the country.

I am grateful to work alongside many talented colleagues, including those who have served our country. I also appreciate our clients, many of whom are veterans themselves. Thank you.
